Malawi's "wild animal" second birthday

I could not realistically let baby M's birthday pass without doing anything at all, and though he did receive a little radio flyer red tryke, not even happy birthday was sung. 

We decided to have a "wild animals of africa" inspired little party with just fam.

Sweet sweet time had by all, especially baby M who is starting to have a clue about what a birthday is all about, 

I even heard him humming happy birthday later in the day.

If you or a family member don't have a birthday in January, I suggest you  have a party anyway!

Tassels for our lamps

I saw these somewhere, and although theirs were hot glued to the lamp, rather then sewn in, I fell in love with the idea, it creates a lovely boho look while adding color and interesting detailing to your lamps.

Lucky for me our lamps were already very plain.

What the heart wants

I know, this is a perfect time of year to miss the tropics really really bad.

It feels hopeless up here in the temperate world.
Even though i swear i have been trying hard to like winter, its not really working.

When I miss Panama,  I miss an island, I miss a climate,I miss a feeling, I miss a culture, I miss a family, I miss a home, I miss an ocean, I miss a beauty in the people, I miss who we are there.

And it has simply just been too long.

Thanks for reminding me of that, January.
