Every time we come home to Panama, we try and take a trip to Zapatilla (little shoes) islands, they are two little deserted slipper shaped islands in the caribbean sea. Its a day trip, as they are quite far from Old Bank Town
spotting dolphins!
holding his little brother, all of us wishing our boat still had a roof
islands in sight!
if you have ever dreamed of the proverbial desert island, well here it is
this water is UNREAL
zapatilla number 2, we hadent been to this one before
its a giant shallow, salty swimming pool, i wanted to fill it with all our near and dear ones, and soak off the long winter we have all had
pretty much my favorite pic from this who trip ♥
mom, this is for you, a boat named be nice, your motto (be kind!)
are there any words?
yes, this is real
i love these shots, quiet, mellow, peaceful, sea water soaked daddy daughter, the essence of my mellow contemplative Steve
ok, not the greatest shot, and i look decidedly middle aged and totally uncool, but as you can see there was hardly anyone for miles, and we grabbed an indian boy passing by and posed as fast as we all could!
thankful for our family
I should mention that today is Good Friday, here it is believed that bad things happen on good friday, seeing as its the day Christ was crucified. In keeping with island lore, our motor broke down at the most inopportune moment out to sea, like bad news, evening approaching, no one for miles, no paddle, tired hungry rapidly getting seasick kids, far from home, alone on a boat. LIFE OF PI minus the tiger kind of bad news.
We managed to restart the boat, oh about 50 times, and it took us an hour and a half to traverse a small patch of sea, until we got to a wharf, and called steve's cousin Roje from town to come tow us!
by this time it was almost night,
here we are being towed home
it was a beautiful sunset, and all's well that ends well, quite the adventure for the kids to recount!
Happy Good Friday! here they eat special easter sweet buns and fish, we will be dying easter eggs today.
That is a WOW photo journal of your trip to those magical islands. I just sit and stare at that water. How beautiful!
