Did you know Biracial children are like chameleons?
in the summer they are brown brown brown
the slightest provocation from the sun causes their skin to turn mahogany, rusty brown, honey dipped caramel, rich hazelnut
In the winter they are olive, a light fawn,sandy brown.
So as in the seasons, so as in life,
I imagine them able to flit between two worlds, changing with the circumstances,
inhabiting two skins, yet feeling at one with the world
with a broader understanding of the human race.
That is my hope for them.
And to be kind and compassionate people
who know they are so loved.
When Barack Obama was born, it was illegal in 16 states for blacks to marry whites.
Today the product of a relationship between a black man and a white woman
is the President of the United States.
Hows that for a bright future?
