Friday

Was a rainy dark soggy day. Hubby got up on the roof to sweep the rotting  mango tree leaves off of it, while I scrubbed our rain water catchment tank, and Imani ate mangos

this beautiful coconut tree grows right off our deck, i had steve fall and chip a coconut for me
grating it in a typical caribbean coconut grater
squeezing fresh milk
made a fresh papaya mango and banana smoothie with it, wow, these flavors here are the REAL THING
then down to go eat rondon at grandpa's.
Rondon or "rundown stew" as it is called in jamaica, where the population here is originally from, it an amazing traditional fish soup that uses fresh jack fish, dasheen, taro and malanga roots, or " dasheen, yuca and gnampee" culantro leaf, scotch bonnet peppers and garlic all cooked in a rich coconut broth.

Steve's littlest brother Andy, 4 years old
heading to Bocas for errands in our boat

the ferry that arrives daily carrying supplies to the main island, Colon
passion fruit and condensed milk shaved ice in a paper cone

eating fried chicken and plantain chips in a bag on grandpa's wharf
ylang ylang blossoms from one of our trees
miracle fruit berries from our yard, when you eat one it makes everything sour that you eat, taste sugar sweet
like this fresh picked lime, tastes like candy!

Wishing you a great saturday

  1. I love how the kids hair curls up down there in the humidity...
